AMANIE ILLFATED
Bringing South Sudan to the world
Amanie Illfated (pronounced: ah-MAH-nee eel-fay-ted) is an award-winning South Sudanese-born international recording artist. Celebrated for her dynamic multilingual tracks, she blends Afropop, R&B, and now Amapiano with her signature vocals—powerful yet sweet. Her music is deeply rooted in her journey, from growing up as a refugee in Canada to becoming a voice for empowerment, healing, diversity, and joy. She has often been described as the “African M.I.A.”
In recent years, Amanie has turned her focus toward South Sudan and the East African market, releasing a string of impactful singles. “Dugu Ena” (May 2024) and “Wellet De” (July 2025) both highlighted her connection to South Sudanese audiences, while her latest Amapiano single, “Sip Sip,” introduced a fresh sound that has further expanded her global reach. Building on this momentum, she is preparing to release a short album, Farasha Junubia (Southern Butterfly), in late 2025.
Her artistry has earned numerous accolades, including Best Diaspora Artist at the 2024 South Sudan Theatre Awards, Best Styled Music Video of the Year at South Sudan Fashion Week, and Best R&B Artist of the Year at the 2021 South Sudan Music Awards. She has also been nominated for Best Female Artist at the African Entertainment Awards and Musician of the Year at the South Sudanese ACE Awards.
Amanie has collaborated with acclaimed artists and producers such as Juno Award winners TAABU and James Bryan (The Philosopher Kings, Prozzäk), internationally recognized musicians Emmanuel Jal and Yaba Angelosi, and most recently South Sudanese artist Single Dee. Her influence extends beyond music, with features in Canadian Musician and Bustle Magazine, the latter spotlighting her as part of PUMA’s She Moves Us Campaign. She is also partnering with War Child Canada on campaigns advocating for children and youth affected by conflict.
Her electrifying performances have graced stages worldwide, including Afrofest Omaha and Afrofest Dallas in the USA, the Festival of Hope by War Child Canada in Toronto, and Afrofest South Africa in 2023. She has also taken the stage at Tanzania’s Bagamoyo International Arts Festival—where she performed before Vice President Philip Mpango—as well as at Afrofest Toronto, TDotFest at Yonge-Dundas Square, the African Descent Festival in Vancouver, South Sudan Unite 2019 in Minneapolis (hosted by former NBA player Luol Deng), and RUKAFest in Juba, South Sudan.
Looking ahead, Amanie is preparing for international performances across Canada, the USA, the UK, South Sudan, Kenya, and Uganda, further establishing her as one of the leading voices bringing South Sudan’s music to the global stage.
